Former executive director of information strategy at Hermes Pension Management Alan Cook has joined Connect as a non-executive director and advisor on industry strategy.

Commenting on the move, Connect’s MD Brian Reid said: “We’re delighted to welcome Alan to our team. A true industry professional, his knowledge is second to none and he brings a sharp client perspective to our business and the services we offer our clients.”

For his part, Alan Cook commented: “"In the five years that I held the position of 'Executive Director of Information Strategy' I relied heavily on the professionalism of a few key suppliers.

"Having an IT Architecture that relied on de-coupled third party applications to support the business, the real key was to fill the 'space' between these applications with robust, fail-safe, middleware that implemented our specific business rules and validation criteria.

"Connect worked closely with our Front Office and Back Office User base to define these rules, design this middleware, develop, test, implement and then support the live operation, on-time and to budget.
